Managing money is important, yet one persistent challenge remains: people rely on scattered apps, notes, and spreadsheets to handle their finances. This disorganization causes stress, missed payments, and poor savings habits, making it harder to feel secure and in control of financial choices.
Findings
Tracking finances is hard when money is spread across multiple bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and investments. Consolidating all this manually is tedious and prone to errors, making it difficult to get a clear picture of overall finances.
Managing every expense manually or even partially requires significant effort and discipline. Busy schedules make it easy to forget transactions or postpone updates, which leads to inaccurate records and frustration.

One Place for Your Diverse Portfolio.
A new mobile app that helps users track their goals, assets, debts, and even small expenses shared with friends. I drew inspiration from existing apps like NerdWallet and Splitwise. Since Intuit Mint was discontinued, I also incorporated some of its features, such as creating custom budgets and linking transactions to specific budget categories.
To bring the concept to life, I first carefully sketched out the user flow and mapped the information architecture. This helped me visualize how users would navigate the app and determine the necessary screens and features.

With the flow established, I began designing a low-fidelity prototype to test layout and interactions, and then gradually refined it into a high-fidelity prototype with polished visuals and detailed functionality.

Before moving forward with the high fidelity prototype, I finalized the color scheme, font style, and icons to ensure consistency across the app. This helps create a unified look and feel, improves readability, and makes the interface more intuitive for users.
With all components designed and developed, I brought them together into a cohesive, fully functional product: budgetapp

One Screen. Every Dollar.
The dashboard highlights a user’s net worth (i.e., financial assets minus liabilities) in real time and offers insights into their financial progress over different periods—monthly, half-yearly, or yearly.
It also provides a clear picture of spending habits by showing how much has been spent in the current month and by reminding users whether they are exceeding or staying within their set budget.
Additionally, the dashboard emphasizes splits between friends and family, reminding users of money they have lent or still owe.
Breaking Down Every Purchase.
Users can see a detailed breakdown of their assets and liabilities, including investment accounts, savings, cash, retirement funds, amounts they have lent or owe, credit card debts, and loans.
The app also provides a dedicated section to display linked accounts, helping users determine their net worth.
Track & Set Budgets.
Users can easily track their monthly spending with a clear breakdown of expenses across budget categories. They can compare actual spending to set budgets and adjust their monthly plan as needed.
The app also provides a list of recent transactions, each tappable to view detailed information, making it simple to review spending habits, check for errors, or recall past purchases.
